Invisible Recycle Bin

About once a day, my Recycle Bin icon turns invisible. I can still see the
words "Recycle Bin" where the icon is normally located, and I can still
right-click on it to empty it or restore deleted items, but the icon itself
is no longer visible.

I found I could get it back by right-clicking on the desktop, then selecting
Personalize -> Change Desktop Icons -> Restore Default. Everything is fine
for another day or two, then the icon turns invisible again.

What the heck is going on? Any ideas? This is NOT a case where I've
accidentally deleted the Recycle Bin -- it's still there, I just can't see
the icon.

I see this occasionally too. I don't know the solution, but note that if
you right click on the desktop and select refresh it will restore the icon.
This is, at least, a little easier than Personalize, etc.

Launch an elevated CMD window, ie Right click, Run as Administrator...
Shutdown Explorer Process from the Task Manager
In the CMD window go to C:\Users\<ProfileName>\AppData\Local
Do the following command: attrib -H IconCache.db
Do the following command: del IconCache.db
Do the following command: start explorer

This should rebuild the Icon Cache...

This happens to me rarely, but it's a temporary graphics issue.
To solve it, simply right click on the desktop -> Refresh

I did this, and so far everything seems cool. Thanks!

I wonder, though, if that is any more of a permanent (or at least
long-term) solution than simply right-clicking the desktop and choosing
"refresh"? If you can possibly remember to do so, it would be nice if
you could post back to this thread later after sufficient passage of
time to allow for you to have formed an opinion. (My Dad's Vista
Business is also experiencing this invisible recycle bin phenomenon.)
