Invite to be a messenger contact not working ???

Hi,
Can someone help with a problem I am experiencing when using the "invite to
be a messenger contact" feature...
I have sent a number of invites over the last few months but none appear to
have been received.
I have even sent one to myself as a tester but still nothing recieved at all.

Am I doing something wrong or is there something wrong with this feature ?

I am currently using Windows Live Messenger 8.1 beta

Please help as I am getting a little frustrated to say the least !

Greetings Tim,

It has been broken before, but usually what's happening is the invite is getting eaten by a
spam filter.

Hi Jonathan,

thanks for the reply.........does this mean the issue is probably with the
email settings of the recipients ?
Is there anything else I can do ? I have contact "Support" on this issue but
still have receievd no reply to my message as yet !

There is a bug with Messenger 8.1 that is causing it. We have fixed it in
the upcoming release.
