Hi,
Yes, a contact list and buddy list are the same. Unfortunately most people at Microsoft
refer to it as the latter, when it's been dubbed the contact list since the dawn of time.
Drives me crazy.
Forget these instructions and just double-click the Messenger icon in the notification area
(by the clock on the taskbar) to bring up the main contact list. Where you see the 'Find a
contact' field, click the button directly to the right of that -- it will appear to be a
Messenger icon with a + next to it. Now just type the Windows Live ID e-mail address of the
person you want to add (or just their e-mail), click Add Contact and you're good to go. You
can ignore the other fields, although I personally like to select a group to keep things
organized.
