Ipaq 3630 - new battery installed now cannot use ActiveSync

Hi folks,

Can't believe my luck on this issue. Needed to fit a new battery to my
wife's Ipaq 3630 which had died completely. New battery install went
smoothly, and the machine powered on OK. When I replaced the Ipaq into the
USB cradle (XP with service pk 2) it immediately errored stating that the
USB device had malfunctioned and was unrecognisable.

So far I have tried de-installing, re-installing, hard resetting the Ipaq,
removing the battery for hours and replacing it etc. I get the same error
every time, and am now at a loss as to what to try or do next. I have also
tried setting it back up on another PC to make sure it was not my laptop
causing the problem.

If any user has any experience or ideas on how to overcome this problem, I
(and my wife) will be eternally grateful.

Have you tried connecting the cradle into an alternative USB socket?
