I have a iPAQ rz1715. It is a Pocket PC 2003 Pro w/Outlook 2002. I have
recently bought a laptop with Windows Vista. I downloaded the Sync Center
for Vista. But when I try to sync to my Pocket PC I get an error msg and it
fails. The message says Calendar, Contacts: attention required

It does not say what attention is required. I don't know what to do from
here.

I would appreciate some help.

Sync Center in Vista requires Windows Mobile 2003 or later.

Is that different than Pocket PC 2003 Pro? I am not familiar with the
terms, etc. This was a gift a couple of yrs ago. Are you saying that it
will not work with my machine? Also, if not, is there a way for me to sync
or is it too old?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, Windows Mobile is the successor to Pocket PC 2003 Pro and Pocket PC
2002 Premium (which I run on my ViewSonic Pocket PC). You will need to get
the OS updated to Windows Mobile 2003 or later for it to work with Vista.
You need to contact Hewlett Packard about support, I am afraid it is not,
but worth a try.

Only work around, install VMWare Workstation which supports USB devices and
install a supported version of Windows in the VM and install Microsoft
ActiveSync then you will be able to to sync your device.

Please note, ActiveSync only works with Windows XP SP2.

I have been syncing my pocket pc 2003 XDA2i with vista using Microsoft
windows mobile device center

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

Is this the same as mobile sync or a different solution?

Apparently it does work with PocketPC 2003 as I use it all the time with my
HP iPaq 5555 and PocketPc 2003 ver4. If I remember correctly it does not work
with Outlook 2002 only 2003 and newer for syncing Contacts, Calendar and
Notes.

Hi. I have Vista Home Premium (Italian flavour) and IPaq 5555 (US flavour)
with MS Outllok 2003 SP3 as in your configuration but I have a strange
behaviour: the IPaq is correctly connected and I can see and manage the
folders/files but if I start the Mobile Center it starts and suddenly aborts:
no way to sync PIM data. Before leaving Vista to update itself it worked fine
then the whole IPaq disappeared and, some time ago it was back but no sync
with Outlook. What am I missing?
Thank you for your help, ciao, Massimo
