IPOD mini not syncing

I remember reading somewhere about an update that resolved an error regarding
IPODs not being able to sync anymore because security updates or something.
Where can I find this again because my IPOD is not being picked up by the
computer and I've tried every USB port. It does charge however. I recently
downloaded all the WindowsUpdate but I'm not sure if I tried syncing after it.
