Hi, recently , I followed some simple instructions to improve windows
vista'performance
(http://mostlysavingmoney.com/top-10-...-speed-tweaks/), but then
when i wanted to restart my pc, it displayed a blue screen, with the irql
not less or equal error and stop 0x000000A... i could not enter in windows so
i put it in safe mode, and then I restored the things that i had changed ,
but i couldn't start a normal vista's session again. I rode in some place
that maybe i needed an update (KB929777), but i can`t install it under safe
mode. Somebody can help me , please? Thank you.

Go back into Safe Mode, and try:

Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore> to a date before you
screwed it up!

So you haven't really improved performance and haven't
"MostlySavedMoney" because you could end up here reinstalling Vista,
which is the way it often goes with these simple Tweaks. People are
anxious to put their "Tweaks" on the internet to get page hits without
considering the fact that what works for them may be disastrous for others.

If you look in services using the official tools you will see a few that
are already "Disabled" by Microsoft, all others are set to "Automatic"
or "Manual". If something runs automatically and you want to stop it
doing do do NOT set it Disabled, set it to "Manual", that way if it is
something vital to the system it can start, if it's disabled it cannot
and you are in trouble. If a service marked "Manual" but shows in the
list as started then something depends on it and has started it because
it is necessary, if you prevent this you get the kinds of problems you
are having.

An "Update" is not likely to fix your problem, it is more likely
something has been broken, and since you probably did more than one
thing at a time without restarting to test each time it is hard to guess
what that might be.

If you are getting an option to use "Last known good configuration" that
is your best hope I think, but by all means wait for other suggestions.
IRQ related errors are often due to hardware problems or driver problems
and the error message itself is sometimes an effect and not the
"Cause" so can be misleading. You can do a Google search for the error
number to see what I mean... stop 0x000000A.

What you could try I suppose is to get into the services manager and if
it allows you to do so set everything that is disabled back to "Manual"
and if you can add any more specific device detail post back and someone
may be able to make a more accurate assessment.

Either way wait for second / third opinions... and good luck.

Assuming he did "All" the Tweaks but then he also said he changed them
back (I think) so who knows...

I didn't really see anything that jumped out as harmful, but then doing
several things at once really plays hell with later diagnosis

And the trouble is a lot of these things don't show up until AFTER you
reboot so it could be days back

Charlie, if he undid it, he's still lost all System Restore before it, lol

I agree with you; there wasn't anything really harmful there.
I got rid of defender, permanently, tried UAC turned off.

I always do one thing at a time; then I know my mistakes.

Cheers!
