Ok.. long story short. A friend tried to help me fix a problem i was
haveing... and something whent wrong, we ended up haveing to 'repair' windows
useing the install CD... well everything fixed itself.. but it reverted
everything back to 'pure' form.. no updates, no service packs, heck it didnt
evne have SP1.. So i start updateing... everything is updated BUT SP2... and
thats were my problem is.. Every time i try to install the SP2 update.. the
green bar fills up about 1/2 way... then stops.. it just sits there..
'saying' that its doing something, but the bar dosnt move... How long is SP2
sapose to take to install?

Also.. i cant seem to get Windows Firewall to run, OR Security center now...
neither of them will run. Any help?

its does teh same thing... gets to a point... then just sits there, and sits
there, and sits there... let it run for a hour, and it never got past teh 1/2
mark. I still cant open up Windows firewall.. or even security center, When
i try running dxdiag, i get 3 sound error codes, though my sound seems to be
working fine.. I get error messages when useing IE at random times. *shrugs*
im hopeing if i can ever get SP2 to install everything will fix itself.. if
nto im just going to format my C drive and reinstall windows xp.. then try
repatching again from scratch.

Sounds like you've got more than just one problem and these problems must be
fixed before installing SP2.

I therefore agree with PA Bear, format & reinstall.
