I needed to replace a hard drive and would like to install SP3 on my XP
computer. I am having issues with it not booting after allowing it to
install. i want to remove the download that came through Automatic Updates -
but do not know where to find it so I can manually download the file because
the Windows update keeps detecting that it is downloaded and I want a fresh
download so I can make sure I have all filtering programs turned off when
downloading to rule out that being a problem with the installation because of
the possibility of it not downloading it correctly.

Thanks.

Start by posting in the proper newsgroup, this newsgroup is for media
center problems.

Try microsoft.public.windowsxp.general, that's where the XP experts
hang out and you'll probably get a fast answer.

If you want to turn off the automatic updates, follow these steps:

1] Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl, and then press ENTER.

2] Click the Automatic Updates tab, and then click to select Turn off
Automatic Updates.

3] Click OK.
