After installing sp 2 last night I lost my start bar, my folders look
different...also some folders do not have folders inside them...just the
folder names. And there are some folders I can not open. There is a giant
white bar across my taskbar so I cant minimize windows. Also I can not
uninstall sp 2...help?!?! Pls!!!

Please see this:

How to remove Windows XP Service Pack 2 from your computer
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/875350

If you can access the Run line from Start, then try running the command
shown under ' Use the hidden $NtServicePackUninstall$ folder '

If you can navigate the OS using Windows Explorer/My Computer, then open
the
C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$\spuninst
subfolder and run spuninst.exe

Otherwise you will have to use Recovery Console to uninstall SP2.
STRONGLY suggest you read these prior to reinstalling it as SP2 is, in
reality, another Version of XP and not just another update:

I get this when trying to uninstall sp 2 from spuninst.exe and I get the same
error when trying to remove sp 2 from add/remove programs...I cant get to cmd
line since I have no start button.

Windows could not load the installer for DiskDrive. Contact your hardware
vendor for assitance.

Are you serious? Who follows the advice that the window gives? LOL. Ummm,
anything a bit more useful for me besides wiping my hard drive?

Why are you attempting to uninstall WinXP SP2 in the first place?

Did you just recently install WinXP SP2? If so, why hadn't you done so
years ago? If so, did you run a /thorough/ check for hijackware prior to
installing SP2?

Sorry to inform you that whole issue can be traced back to the improper
installation of SP2. Since you can't boot to any useful tools or
options, the only hope now would be to attempt a Repair Installation:

How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install
http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

Otherwise, it's wipe and rebuild.
Remember to read the links we supplied before the next installation of
SP2 and you won't have to go through this grief again.
