Item "stuck" in RSS Feeds Headlines gadget

For some reason, one particular item has become "stuck" or fixed in the RSS
Feeds Headlines gadget and hangs around for days after it first appeared.
All the other items gradually get placed further down the list and
eventually fall off the bottom but this one item is at the top of the list
and it's dated one week ago.

How do I get rid of it? I have tried adjusting the number of feeds and
choosing different feeds but it still won't go away.

Vista Ultimate 32-bit on Dell laptop.

Hi Qu0ll,

Try deleting the feed and re-add it (using IE). Sidebar uses the common
feeds database.

Thanks for the tip. I have managed to get it to go away by doing as you
suggested but there are obviously problems with RSS Feeds and IE on my
machine. When I select a non-MS feed in the Feeds tab of IE, all I get in
the browser window is an XML file, not the actual items in the feed in a
readable view. If I click on a Microsoft feed I get a message saying that
access to the XML file is denied until I click on Refresh which then
displays the list of items properly. Also, I couldn't add the RSS feed that
contained the original problem item as when I navigated to the relevant page
it didn't recognise any feeds on that page. I had to add it in via Outlook.

How can I fix these problems with IE and RSS Feeds?

Hi Qu0ll,

See if resetting the Feeds database helps. Ref:
