install or burn cd's....?

Uninstall, reboot, reinstall then reboot.
Make sure you have the latest version.
Perhaps a bad download, download again.
Do you have a Windows Vista 64 bit compatible version?
Contact the manufacturer if unsure.

iTunes is not certified to work on Windows Vista x64. I also receive the
following message:

Warning!
iTunes was not properly installed. If you wish to import or burn CDs, you
need to reinstall iTunes.

Works fine on Vista x86 though, if you need any of the required
functionality, you just have to do it in Media Player 11.

Hi,

iTunes doesn't support 64 bit Windows and the 64 bit drivers you need for
burning are not supplied.
However you can download them from the Gear site:
http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.cfm

Once you install these all should be fine, or at least they are for me and
all the others who had experienced this problem. May I suggest that the
Apple iTunes for Windows forum may be a good place to look for iTunes
issues.

I installed the Gear drivers and now iTunes works perfectly.

Thanks, I've looked at that site but was a little confused on which one to
download. I thought the first one would work, but that's for a 32 bit? Would
it be the second option?

It is the second one you want if you're running Vista 64 bit.

Anything that concerns Device drivers and Vista x64 must always be 64 bit.
