Hello,

I am not able to use the new Windows Update site yet (it's
been a week so far and tried a number of different
options). However SP2 installed without issues.

I have a question for anybody out there: Is the Java plug-
in for IE needed for Windows Update to run? I never
installed it before and V4 used to run fine without Java.

Thanks

Thanks.

It actually uses activeX but I was wondering if Java was
needed too. I have another machine running XP Pro (with
the Java plugin installed) that can access WU V5 and this
is quite the only difference between the one that cannot
access and the "good one". The other difference that I
have found so far is that the "bad one" runs XP Home
Edition. Now I am realizing that the "bad one" was updated
from Windows ME. The issue with WU could be a legacy of
ME. Any opinions?
