The Java website's forum seems to be too technical for me so hopefully
someone reading this is able to help.

I have just downloaded the latest Java update and now all my fonts on all my
applications on Windows Vista is slightly blurred. The font seems to be a
little stronger but less clear. Does anyone know how to fix this?

See the help and support app's entry on "Make text easier to read using
ClearType". I would guess the clear type setting has been turned off.

Use the "Ratings" feature. It helps the new users.

Thanks but ClearType is still switched on and I've tried tuning it but that
hasn't resolved the problem either.

I can't tell you what caused this, but it wasn't the Java update. Java ver
6-10
is used in web browsers to display active content. It should have no effect
on fonts in your other applications. If you want to be sure, uninstall Java
to see if there's any change, then reinstall it.

Thanks, you're right. I'd uninstalled but the problem persisted. I'd also
noticed my photos were being vertically stretched and the icons on my desktop
had been jumbled around with spaces where you's expect icons to be. I've
moved the screen resolution up by a notch to the maximum and now everything
is crystal clear. However, as a result everything is a bit smaller than I'm
used to. Have no idea what could have caused all this but the Java update
seems to have been a coincidence.

It might be your DPI setting, right click the Desktop > click
Personalization > under Task click 'Adjust DPI Settings'.

Why don't you try System Restore to before your problem.
