my optical mouse has started behaving erratically (moves around on its own a
bit) have used tools to remove and detect conficker, updated avg regularly
and install all the security updates, so.... seems like a virus but I don't
know. Anybody can troubleshoot this issue?

And What woudl be the best antivirus program- free, and the best purchased?
also the best conficker detector. I mean this may not be a virus but still...

I would be more likely to suspect a mechanical problem. Make sure the lens
is clean there is no dirt around. Is it tailess?

If it is a cordless mouse replace the batteries; if it's a corded mouse try
a different mouse.
