June Windows Updates breaks Java?

The June updates were installed via WSUS to all our workstation. We found
today that certain Java applications do not work anymore.
We have a Cisco IP Phone network. We use the Real Time Reporting on CRS IPCC
but it no longer loads, just shows a java gray screen. If we use a computer
or server that didn't get the updates, then the Java site works. We
uninstalled all the updates and it didn't make a difference so uninstalling
apparently doesn't "fully" uninstall. Our next step is resorting to a
previous restore point.

Anyone else having any Java issues since the June 10th updates?

Given what you have - I have to ask if you bothered to find a machine
without the updates, check that your java app works, then install the
updates one-by-one to see which one 'breaks' the app by rebooting and
testing after each individual installation?

This sort of testing is usually done before pushing out updates with WSUS -
actually one of the main purposes of controlling the updates within a given
organization - so this might be a little retroactive - but I believe you
might benefit from knowing exactly which update that you applied actually
causes the problem - if any...

What version of Java is on the machines with the issue?

I agree testing is the preferred method but when we used to "test" it seemed
you never could think of every or replicate every situation to make sure you
tested everything. We found that the percentage of issues (usually less than
1% or mostly none at all) compared to the security concerns, so we weighed
the risks and decided to let critical updates install.

I have found that it doesn't seem to matter what version of Java, none of
them are working.
Tried, 6.3, 6.6, 1.5, 1.42, 1.31 then finally realized that it probably had
more to do with the updates than Java itself since that is the only thing
that has changed.
I've opened a case with Cisco and I will see where this heads....

True enough. In this situation I'd be looking to find a spare machine and
reinstall it, without the June updates, and see if it works. If so, install the
updates one by one to nail the problem down.

My own suspicion is that it is simply a coincidence that this broke at the same
time as the June updates ... unless this is a Java applet (rather than an
application as you originally said) and you're using Internet Explorer?

Yes had a computer without the updates and it worked fine. Started
installing the updates one at a time, testing it between each update. It did
slow the Java app down but it was still working even after all the updates
were installed. Not sure if now it's an order in which what updates being
installed could be the problem but I can't imagine why that would be the
case. At a lost for the moment but now I am looking at this from a differnet
angle forgoing that Windows Updates did anything.
