I have this Dell Inspiron 530s desktop computer that won't get past th
dell logo screen at startup. I bought this computer off a friend tha
had said the psu had gone bad. I bought a new psu and installed it
hooked up sata hdd and sata dvd-rom and tried it. At first I was able t
go to setup and then it asked for password. Didn't know any password bu
I did try a few that I had seen on another forum regarding the Phoeni
bios. None of them worked. When I powered off and then back on I can'
get past logo screen. I cannot go to safe mode, setup, or boot menu. Al
I get is the dell logo screen with the BIOS Revision 1.0.15. I get on
short beep at startup. After looking at dell documentation; one shor
beep could be bios checksum error or motherboard failure. I have n
operating system disk. I believe that this computer did run vista and i
might be that vista has a recovery disc option that is in a hidde
partition on the hdd. Does anyone know what I can do

Keit

Always wipe a used computer. Never accept as-is.

This way you start with a clean plain jane OS as well as NOT inherit and malware.
