After a trouble free install of IE8 I reboot and I get nothing!
Another reboot and the same result NOTHING
The browser doesn't even try to open,
Nothing of value in the Event Viewer.

If all else fails I will return to my Acronis backup I made prior to
the install of the "better" IE8.

Thanks!

Hi,

1. See if a browser add-on is causing the problem.
Start Internet Explorer without add-ons by right-clicking the IE icon on the
desktop. Choose Start without add-ons.
or
from Start> Programs> Accessories> System tools> Internet Explorer (no
add-ons)
If the problem goes away, an add-on is causing it.

To determine which add-on is causing the problem see:
IEBlog Troubleshooting and Internet Explorer’s (No Add-ons) Mode:
http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/07/25/678113.aspx

2. With the warning that a reset will delete AutoComplete data, such as
passwords and you will have to reinstall or re-enable browser add-ons, use
the Reset IE Settings button in Internet Options> Advanced.

Useful for recovering stored passwords before you clear all stored login
data:
IE PassView- NirSoft:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/interne..._password.html

What a reset of IE settings will do:
Windows Vista Help- Reset Internet Explorer settings:

3. Try a winsock reset

Start> All programs> Accessories> (find Command prompt) right-click Command
prompt> Run as administrator. At the flashing cursor, type in "netsh winsock
reset" (without the ") hit Enter. Restart.

After resetting winsock, you may have to reinstall other programs which
access the internet.

4. Go to http://iefaq.info/index.php?action=a...133&artlang=en
Read the information on that page- especially the "Usage" paragraph (Usage:
unzip the download and run the cmd...)
Download (near the bottom of the page) and run the appropriate script for
your browser and OS.
