Just installed Vista 64 bit Ultimate

Hey gang,

Have been reading these forums basically since Vista's release, and have
been hesitant to purchase it.

I finally decided, to get another hard drive, and purchase Vista Ultimate
retail full version, and install the 64 bit version to run in a dual boot
environment , with my XP Pro 32 bit, leaving the XP Pro as my main primary
OS for a while.

I got it installed yesteray afternoon, and have been playing around with it.

While it is certainly different than XP, I can say the more I use it , the
more I like it. Seems to be pretty robust on my system, and no issues so
far. And I really like, having all my 4gb of ram recognized.

I am pleasantly surpised so far, I was expecting it to be worse than what I
have seen to date based on all that I have read. Certainly, there are things
I don't like as much about it, and other things I like better, but for now I
am enjoying getting used to it and messing around with it.

There is a vicious and totally not objective crowd in this forum that spread
total lies and unfounded criticism about Vista. IMHO they have divergent but
mostly sinister motives. There are some malware pushers and writers, people
who make their living by emailing phishing stuff, or just spoof. Then there
are more sophisticated individuals who develop spyware and Trojans. They are
the most vociferous. They would say that those who advocate Vista endanger
the whole community by promoting "insecure" OS.

Then there are Linux and Ubuntu trolls who hate MS and wish it all possible
ills. These idiots on the other hand admire Google, a company that is
bigger, mightier, more capitalistic, etc. Google gives people overall much
less than MS, and historically MS has accomplished a great deal more. I am
wondering if one day Google buys MS, what are those loonies going to do?
They cannot switch their hatred toward their admirable Google! They will be
left with no purpose in life.

Then there are legitimate software vendors who have small web sites selling
some add-ons, or stand-alone applications what can do what sometimes even
DOS can do easily but people have no idea about those resources. Vista has
expanded its add-ons, services, APIs to such an extent that many of those
functions are now available in house and in Windows. Those people are in big
trouble. They try to save their meal ticket. One example is Acronis and
Elephant Boys computers. They do not oppose Vista overtly but never mention
the fact that the same functions and options are available in Vista.

And the last category consists of people who just do not have enough brains
to handle Vista. Since it is impossible for them to admit their inadequacy
they think that MS screwed up and developed a system that is simply bad.

Vista is a great OS. It is not to say you won't have any problems with it
until you got a hang of it firmly. It might take some time but it is worth
it.

I agree with you. I switched from OS X to Vista. I really enjoy using Vista
and I think it's a great product. A cottage industry has sprung up dedicated
to Vista-bashing, and most of it is completely unfounded.

Your experience the same as most. There is certain hardware that is
problematic, but Vista is the only OS that works with no tweaks on my rig
(including XP).

Wrong again. Your 'one example' is just one example of your limited
knowledge.

FDisk can NOT non-destructively re-partition HD space, while many 3rd party
utils can.
