just as I suspected.....

I had all these problems with booting up since having IE7 and the subsequent
windows updates since installing it. After Dell could not help me figure
out the problem I just decided to do a System Restore to the day before I
downloaded IE7, and gee, now I have no problems anymore. Go figure.

To anyone who hasn't downloaded the new version, you might want to think
twice IMO.
