Just Upgraded To Win XP and WinUpdate Will Not Work

I just upgraded to Win XP from ME, and want to install the updates. I can
get to the microsoft update site, grant access for the certificate, and then
IE freezes - and I have to ctrl alt del out of IE.

Any suggestions?
