Morning,
RE: KB article 833987
MS04-028: Buffer overrun in JPEG processing (GDI+) could allow code
execution
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;833987
The Short Story:
We have a problem with KB833987 causing an Out of Memory error for our
customers with more than 512MB of memory.
Can anyone tell us how to remove this one specific update?
The Longer Story:
We have an older software application designed in Access 95.
Customers that have more than 512MB of memory receive an 'Out of
Memory' error when trying to run the software. Once they pull some
RAM and get to 512 or below it works fine. This has been the case
since our customers started getting over 512 in their computers. This
morning I had a customer call and tell me they've been using a
computer with a gigabyte of memory for over six months now and haven't
had a problem until today. Then when they tried to open our software
today they received an 'out of memory' message. After doing some
looking around, we found that a system restore point had been set when
XP d/l and installed several updates two days earlier. After doing a
restore to that point it said it sucessfully rolled back to that date
but that KB833987 was not removed. We then rolled back to a previous
system checkpoint a few days prior and this time it removed it and the
software once again worked fine. I'm wondering if there is a way to
remove just that update from other customers computers to see if it
works as well?
Thank you,
Richard
