I updated the other day (manually), everything downloaded and installed
except for the 2 in the subject line.

I sat here and watch them download, but installation failed. MS shows the
installation failed. But, it also won't let me download the 2 patches to
try to install again.

I looked in my add/remove programs with a check mark in updates. They are
not there either.

Where do I go from here?

Thanks for your time, and have a great day!

One of my PC has done the same thing for 18 months I have given up
trying to fix it. Auto updates is set to "off" but I manually download
the updates via the Custom button on the Windows Updates V6 site.

Workaround I use as follows.

Go to the update site as usual and note the KB numbers of the updates
you want then hit "Install Updates". The updates should download OK
then presumably fail on installation.

Open C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Downloads.

You will see lots of folders with random names, the KB Installers are
inside including the ones you just downloaded, exactly where? you have
to root around for them. Either open the folders in turn and inside
you will see another folder called "update" amazing eh? Open this and
you will see a catalogue file named KBxxxx and an Upate Installer, or
you can try running a search for the KB you want after downloading
but this can give you a lot of spurious results..

Double click the installer when you locate it to install the update,
it should work fine if you are running it locally on an admin account.

Personally I have a Temp Folder inside the downloads folder and I
store all the KB folders, renamed to the KB number inside after use
because I can find them again easilly. I clear the
SoftwareDistribution\Downloads folder into it every month so when I
download the latest updates they are the only files in there.

Looks complicated but it is easy once sorted out + you get the correct
updates for your particular installation in theory.

I have never had one go wrong using this method but I still always
image the C Drive before running updates.

Paranioid? Moi?
