Although it is not properly documented, experience in practice shows that
911562 requires MDAC 2.8 Service Pack 1 to be installed before 911562.

MDAC 2.8 SP1 is included in XP SP2. You should be considering XP SP2 soon,
as support for XP SP1 will cease in three months' time.

Really? That is quite rare. Any details as to why? The only cases I have
experienced have been old applications which violate DEP, and the DEP
feature in SP2 can be configured to exclude them.

Hmmm. At a loss to help you there.

I downloaded this and trying running on XP sp1; tells me the OS is not
supported. under system requirements it does not list XP as a support OS.

It looks as if they intend that the only way to get MDAC SP1 is to go to XP
SP2.

Maybe you will have to just not accept update 911562.

OK - slightly more helpful information is at:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../ms06-014.mspx

where they offer specific manual downloads for each OS/MDAC version
combination.

I've downloaded from this site as well. I still receive this same error
message. Is there a way to stop updates from being installed to specifice
machines through WSUS. If I can't stop it from trying to to reinstall itself
every night and clear failed messages from WSUS.
