kb 938979 recommended but already installed

Running windows vista home premium 32 bit. Windows crashed today. In
problems and solutions recommended install kb 938979, but I installed it
November 30, 2007. How can this be recommended to fix a problem when I
already have it?

Is Service Pack 1 installed ? The recommendation to install KB938979
is a result of feedback sent to MS from systems that have had a similar
crash. It's not the 'bible'. <w>

What is the installed antivirus/security suite ?
What were you doing when did the crash occurred ?

BTW, suggest you post this to a Vista newsgroup as it appears this is an
issue with the OS, not Windows Update:

No service pack 1 is not installed. I have McAfee security center. I was
just surfing the web when it crashed.

I'll move the post as you recommended.
