I installed KB810243 and now I am transported to
http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.co....aspx?ln=en-us in
place of http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/endefault.asp.
On this new webpage there appears to provision to hide unwanted updates.
For my computer there are 6 Optional Software Updates that I wish to hide.
I can see the button to restore Hidden Updates but I can't see how to hide
them. Have I missed something?

Ok, I've found it by expanding each optional update (left click) and
checking the "Hide this update" box.
