kb822603 installed but still in windows update

hello everyone,
i am running xp home sp1. i have installed all of
the available updates in windows update. when i scan
again for new updates kb822603 (usb 1.1 and 2.0 update) is
listed again. i uninstalled kb822603 from control panel,
rebooted and installed again from windows update and
rebooted again but when i scan for new updates it is there
again. i uninstalled again from control panel and tried
to find the kb822603 file in windows update catalog but
could not find it. any suggestions on how to correct
this? thanks for you help.

i followed the instructions, even edited the registry and
shut down the system, but kb822603 still shows up when i
rescan for updates. any other options?

someone on another newsgroup suggested renaming catroot2
and that worked. i have the same kind of problem on a
98se machine. i will try this solution on that machine as
well.
