Cumulative Secutiry Update for Outlook Express 6 SP1 is downloaded. Tell it
to install, and is says successful.

Within 20 minutes, I get a notification that it is downloaded and needs to
be installed.

I go through the process again. Comes back again.

This is happening on two different Win2K machines in two different
locations. Been like this for the last three days on both machines. Is
there a bug in the update, or is it in "AutoMatic Updates" process ?

Hi,

If you have the security update KB897715 (MS05-030) installed,
it could be caused by that.

Temporarily uninstall KB897715 (from Add/Remove Programs), and see if
KB823353 (MS04-018) installs successfully. Then install KB897715 again.

Thanks, Torgeir! This problem (recurring update of KB823353) has been
a problem for about the last 10 days on one of my Windows 2000 Servers.
Removing KB897715 fixed it!

If you've not done so already, please begin a new thread here about *your*
problem.

When doing so, post the versions of MSOE.DLL, INETCOMM.DLL and WAB32.DLL
displayed at Outlook Express: Help > About > Files.

Hi,

You may want to try the things listed in the "WORKAROUND" section here:

Yes, the workarounds seem to have solved it. Sorry about that and thanks.
