This cummulative update to IE6 first appears in my update history on the
Windows Update website as having failed. It does then show up as having been
successfully installed 3 times! Yet it still appears in the system tray as
a pending update -- 'downloaded, ready to install'. Each time I install it,
it adds to the History list on the Win Update website, but it does not show
up under Control Panel > Add Remove Programs and it appears patiently waiting
in the system tray, waiting its chance to be reinstalled. Please advise.

Hi,

The version numbers 6.00.2800.1506 tells that you have security update
KB897715 (MS05-030) installed, and the issue is caused by that.

Temporarily uninstall KB897715 (from Add/Remove Programs), and see if
KB823353 (MS04-018) installs successfully. Then install KB897715 again.

Hi,

If you have the security update KB897715 (MS05-030) installed,
it could be caused by that.

Temporarily uninstall KB897715 (from Add/Remove Programs), and see if
KB823353 (MS04-018) installs successfully. Then install KB897715 again.
