KB828741 Win XP

I am trying to get Norton Antivirus to run on a Win XP machine. It was
from a disk with Norton Antivirus for 2 machines. It loaded and ran fine
on my Win 98SE machine.

It loaded (I think) OK, and I registered it, on the Win XP machine. But
the logo in the system tray is x-ed out and I can't activate it. When I
try to do a Live Update, I get an error message which informs me that
there is a conflict and I have to uninstall Hotix KB828741, then load
Norton, then reload Hotfix KB828741.

But I can't uninstall Hotfix KB828741 because I don't get a remove
button. I get the remove button if I select other KB's, but not this
one.

Does anyone have any ideas on deleting this item. (Yes, I know I can get
another antivirus program, and I probably will. But I'd still like to
understand my problem.)

Thanks to anyone who can help,

Victoria

Removing a Hotfix if Add/Remove doesn't work:-

If this Hotfix can be uninstalled you should be able to do it by this (I can't check
as I've cleaned out my old hotfix files).

1. Close any Open Windows or Programs
2. Click Start, select Run
3. Type or copy the following: %WINDIR%\$NtUninstallKB828741$\spuninst
4. Locate and double-click the file Uninst.exe. This will start the wizard.
5. Click Next to scan, Yes, to confirm that you want to uninstall the update
regardless of what other software it might affect.
6. Allow it to finish

I'm concerned at what version of Norton's Antivirus you are using? If it is an older
version, are you sure it's compatible with WinXP?

If you need to manually download the update again
