KB832483 critical update

On setting myself up on the internet [with Sky
unfortunately/nightmare/another story] - 3 months ago after a long spell of 3
yrs not being connected on the net, this site advised me that I needed to
have this critical update installed and I have manually installed KB832483
over and over. Each time Microsoft tells me that the installation has been
successful but when I check 'add/remove programs' this update is not listed.
I have successfully updated many other updates which are now listed on my
system. As well as this - a while ago I happened to choose the automatic
option of having my system updated automatically and I kept thinking - geeso
- that's strange - I thought that I had manually installed just about every
single thing that moved on Microsoft's update site, and here I am still
receiving loads more of them automatically. However on checking my 'history'
on this site, I see that even the microsoft auto service has tried to install
it 15 times, but it's still not listed in my system at all. The weird thing
is that each and every time it's 'so-called' been installed - Microsoft has
checked it of in the 'history' section on this update site as having been
'successful'. Anyone else having the same problem, or can anyone give me

You're running Windows 2000? Give installing

a try. Revisit the Windows Update site after the installation
and download the offered Important/Critical Updates offered
afterwards.
