You are on Windows 2000? If true, that's a known, yet unresolved issue,
based on an Windows Update detection error. If you want a more or less
quick&dirty fix, you may try downloading
http://patch-info.de/IE/Downloads/Q867801-WUFix.zip
Extract the containing "Q867801-WUFix.reg". Afterwards double click the
REG file and let it merge into the registry. Finally shut down all open
IE windows and see if WU/AU still offers KB/Q867801, KB/Q832894, KB/
Q831167 and/or KB/Q823353.

I have to same problem:
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (KB832894)

This updated continue to request that it be installed and has install itself
4 times already.

This is happening to us, too. Win2K systems that repeatedly are "told" they
require KB890830. After the first time, the install and apply process takes
only an instant, which is suspicious. The update history shows it succeeded
over and over.

It doesn't matter if the system goes to the WU site directly, or if the user
clicks a SUS object in the task tray. Same symptoms.

Does anyone know if Microsoft is going to fix this?

One thing I noted on my system: when I went to the Microsoft Windows Update
site today, it showed two updates needed: KB832894 (last updated 4/12/04) and
the previously mentioned KB890830. This is strange, since my system was fully
patched on 5/8/07. Why did it suddenly determine I needed a three-year old
update?

Hmmmmm.

All of my references to "KB890830" should have been "KB867801". Is there any
provision to edit my earlier post?

<mea culpa>

Same issue for me on Win2K SP4 - KB832894 keeps popping up via auto
updated
and wanting me to install it... I do so, reboot and it comes back
again!

Microsoft: The gift that keeps on giving... :^(

Nope, this is Usenet and not a Web Forum although you're using
a web interface to access the newsgroups.
