After downloading both WindowsXP-KB834707-x86-fra.exe and
WindowsXP-KB885884-x86-fra.exe (I use the French XP) the installation of each
update begins by extracting the files and, after accepting the license
agreeement, fails when it intends to copy the file "branches.inf" from the
folder C:\77a320eb078d4a804fe3ff1de7413c63\update.

Thanks for any help on this

Hey MicheldR,

1. Go to the Windows\inf directory

2. Do you see BRANCHES.INF?
YES: Go to step 3
NO: Enable "Show hidden files and folders" from FOLDER OPTIONS in Windows
Explorer, then go to step 3

3. Right-click on BRANCHES.INF, select PROPERITES and clear the READ-ONLY
box.

I hope this helps.

Everything worked well as you indicated, thank you Graig.
It's wonderful how someone can know these things... a read only mark in one
on thousand of files...
