Hi there,
Just folllowing this issue to learn and want to learn fast so  een fout ontdekt: error detected Syntaxis of the filename, foldername or directoryname is not correct The installation of KB898461 did not complete Windows Xp is partly upgraded and will possibly not work correct anymore. Please download the update from here, Michael :
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en BE SURE to change the language to Dutch in the dropdown window IF Dutch is the language that the OS uses !!!!!!!! Save it, do NOT run it. Close all open programs and browsers and then run WindowsXP-KB898461-x86-xx.exe to install it. [xx is for Dutch, since I don't know what will show when the Dutch update is downloaded ]Did that get it installed ? If not, there will be a new section of the KB898461.log created with the date of when the update was run. Please post back with just that section if it fails to install again. Michel)! So I downloaded the update, closed everything (even stopped my virusscanner) and then ran the file named WindowsXP-KB898461-x86-NLD.exe. First, it gave me the same dialog about spmsg.dll I described earlier. Then it went on to think for a while, showing it was working on SPMSG.DLL.REF and then asked me to place 'Windows updates source cd' - or something like that - and continue, by default suggesting to search the folder c:\d6cd50c3c5473992a0064df7d8f3a6. It kept doing that, I didn't change the dir by lack of a better idea, so in the end I clicked "Cancel" and then it cancelled the entire update (I found that line in the log). Below is the excerpt from the log file - this time I translated the relevant parts in square brackets.
