I have just downloaded manually from the WU site and installed KB873374, the
GDI Detection Tool. The installation log showed the operation was
successful. Where else can I check that the update has indeed been
successfully installed? It is not listed on the RegEdit file, nor the Help
> About IE file or About MS OE file.

Hi

It's not an installation really, it's just an exe file you can run
yourself to see if you need to install additional security updates
(the GDI Detection Tool in itself will not install any security
updates). After that is done, you can just delete the exe file.

If you can't locate where you downloaded the file to, you can
download it again. More here:

I think the confusing thing is that it doesn't leave an exe on the harddrive.
It runs only once and apparently it disappears after that.
