KB885626 on SP2 RTM causes crash

Hi
Windows update prompts me to install KB885626 even though I
have a system which came preloaded with Windows XP SP2 RTM,
when it tries to install the patch the system locks. If I
use the Microsoft exe package to install the patch it locks
up when it gets to 'update.sys.' I'd rather not re-install
SP2 and I have tried contacting the manufacturer of the PC,
given thatis there a solution known for ths problem is it a
known issue with SP2 preloaded machines?

Hi

If your computer works fine, you do not need KB885626. Just hide
it at Windows Update.
