I installed KB890175 and KB890830 yesterday. KB890175 will not work with
McAfee anti-virus instead it leads me to the blue screen of death. I am able
to run the web versions of Panda and Trend Micro without problems. Since
yesterday I have incurred the blue screen approximately 5 times. After
reading this support content for KB890175 I didn't know what to do but
uninstall. Any ideas? Thanks

Thanks for the lead. Windows update tries to install both KB890175 and
KB890830 automatically but hung. I noticed that there were 2 update files to
install with 0kb and 0 minutes. What gives? Do I really need these updates?
Where are the files?

Since I downloaded this updated this evening, I have got the blue screen of
death twice (in the last hour and a half). Both times it happened when I
pressed the Back Arrow button in IE.
Im on XP SP2. Anyone have any ideas?

me to.

My computer runs 24/7 for months - never crashes. Crashed twice since
last night.

I use norton internet security as anti-virus/firewall.

Since the other user is using McAfee it does not appear to be a
conflict with McAfee or norton.

OK ... seems there are major problems with the download and automatic
installation of KB890830 & KB890175. I had automatic update install these
two downloads and when prompted, I clicked to to restart. At that point, I
received that same blue screen of death. It would dump the memory and
restart again and again only to get the blue screen of death again. I have
McAfee VS but since another said they had Norton, who knows if thats the
problem. Maybe a problem with all anti-virus software. Anyway ... rather
that letting it just restart time after time, I shut it down completely for
awhile. When I turned it on, it did finish loading Windows and boot up, but
warned me that my system has recovered from a serious system error. It
seems that something was not considered in the updates.
