Ah, but that is just the point, the ever downloading update is this
month's MSRT that I have already declined and supposedly "hidden" per
published instructions. I could live with declining once per month it is
multiple time a day that becomes irritating! Also I have noticed that
the downloading cycle is inconsistent which I find puzzling. One day it
repeated only a few times during the day, but yesterday it kept
repeating about 5-15 minutes after the download for more than a dozen
times. This morning, been 2 hours and no activity...strange. I was just
looking for a definitive way to decline the month's version of the MSRT
and not be pestered to next month since the published instructions did
not seem to work.

I was not asking for support for NIS, just underscoring the conundrum.
Been happily using Norton's products for over 10 years, but this
'feature' of WU having to be set to full automatic is new with this
version I just installed and I will take the issue with their support.
My question was with above, because if the month's MSRT declined would
remain 'hidden' would be a satisfactory solution.
