Hi installed a while ago (April 15th i think) 5 updates, including windows
installer 3 and KB890859. When I restarted, and every other boot up, I got a
box with title bar:
"The requested control is not valid for this service"
the box said inside it:
"control service"
and had an ok button. The comp seems to work fine, but its very annoying,
this box, and I don't know exactly what it could be affecting.
A google search showed a few other people with a similar problem, whic is
aparently linked to my SiS graphics or USB port drivers.
On April 18th I uninstalled all 5 of the updates I had previously installed,
and the message stopped.
Reinstalled them again today, one at a time, and KB890859 is the problem
update.
How can I remedy this?
Running WinXP Home SP2.
PS: I've heard that the windows installer update is buggy and not intended
for WinXP home. This true?
