Aftre the KB891711 update was installed my son never got onto his online FFXI
game once.
The blue screen "Fatal Exception at OE 0000:00010000" came every time (or OD
?). This ocurred as the Graphics resized for the online viewer. I also had
random blue screens.
It was about a month of trying everything before I saw this KB891711 in the
Startup folder and the date of the start of the bluescreens trouble "clicked"
.. I unchecked it AND I HAVE HAD NO BLUESCREENS SINCE AND MY SON IS PLAYING
AGAIN.

My questions are.(1)When is it safe to do online-update again?
Microsoft have not acknowledged my "feedback" on this subject so I am left
in Limbo.
(2)Can I uninstall KB891711 completely?

Yes, you can uninstall KB891711 - although it's not recommended.
Use Add/Remove Programs for that.

MS are actively looking at the problem with the patch - hopefully they'll
have a new version out soon that doesn't have the problems of the current
one. It's very rare that one gets a response from the feedback mechanism -
especially since many of the ways into it deliberately do not ask for
personal identification (i.e. you email addy!).

I'm also trying to correlate problems with this patch in the search for a
workaround that doesn't involve uninstalling or disabling the patch - What
OS do you have??

What I'd like is for everyone (and anyone!) affected by this problem to
email me (my addy here is valid) with a copy of their Everest Home Edition
(or AIDA32) report.

To do this, please read the following carefully

Download and install Everest Home Edition from www.lavalys.com and install
it.

Run the program, and once it's up and running, click on

Report
Quick report - All Pages
(here you can pick your choice - I'd prefer HTML, but if you're worried
about your privacy, then Text is a better option)

When the report is complete (please don't click on anything until it is
complete!) Save it!!!

Remove any information that you may consider sensitive - but please put
something in its place! (I suggest <removed>) so that I know that something
is missing

Save the (amended) file as "Report <your email>"

then email it to me as an attachment at

I can't promise to respond - but I'll try to at least acknowledge receipt,
particularly if you put some detail into the covering email.

Many thanks for your patience in reading this - I hope it makes sense!!

Noel Paton, MVP do you know if the patch KB891711 will be incorporated via
the normal route of Add/Remove Programs or will it be listed in Internet
Explorer help settings that show the patches or is there another route that
Microsoft plans to take. If you cannot openly share here then email me at
