Hi.

I'm trying to install KB891781
(http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../MS05-013.mspx) on my
WinXP SP2 machine.

Unfortunately the update doesn't seem to install properly. About one
minute after automatic update downloaded and installed the update it
appears again for download.

Even downloading and installing the manual update doesn't help.

Any ideas?

Regards,
Jan

Oh I forgot something: No error messages, the update is reported to be
successful.

It probably means that there is a version conflict with one of the modules
being installed.

Since you have tried a manual install you could modify that with a /verbose
command line option and see if it documents such a version conflict for you.

BTW if any "security" programs were running during the install they also
could have interfered with the final copying of the modules, particularly
if the final copying had to be done by a reboot. (This is a general comment
about updates. I haven't checked the manifest of this particular one to know
whether a reboot is required with it or not.)

Good luck

That didn't work as the update is a window application without any
console output.

I tried disabling all possible tasks and services before installing the
update... no success...

Any other ideas?

Regards, Jan

Find out where you downloaded it to (e.g. path name).
Then copy that path into the ClipBoard. (From Address bar: Alt-d,Ctrl-c)
Then open a cmd window and type: cd /d
(There's a trailing space after the /d switch.)
Right-click to paste the path after the command syntax and press Enter.
Enter: dir
Right-click, select and copy the file name of the package you downloaded.
Right-click, Paste (into the command line) (or type it out if you prefer)
Append the /verbose switch (after a space)
Press Enter.
Wait for the install to finish.
Search for the logs it created.

Good luck

Yes, but they will be a lot more work than what I have already suggested.
