KB896424

I am having problems with the KB896424 MS Update. When installed the system
will not fully go into standby. It goes as far as the first screen then
hangs. The only thing to do is then switch off, Keyboard is dead. If I
uninstall the update using remove programmes everything is OK works fine. I
have switched Auto update off for the moment so that it does not download
again. I am running Media Centre XP 2004. I have noted that on my laptop the
same problem does NOT occur. Has anyone got any suggestions and do I need the
update?

We installed it on a few machines here and found that when installed on the
IBM 8307 machines (running Win2k) the machines go into a constant reboot
cycle. We're not having any troubles with it on the older machines (6794).
I have to do more testing to try and determine the problem but for now we're
not going to roll this out to our users!
