Hello,
I patched my windows 2000 Server machines the other day with KB 896688
patch, and after rebooting all Windows Explorer windows started did not list
any files. Underneath the menus was a little box with a dot in the middle. As
a temporary workaround I reinstalled IE 6 SP 1, which effectivly uninstalled
this update. After narrowing it down to this particular patch, and only
Windows 2000 Server, I discovered that the the Tools->Options had a setting
'Enable Web content in folders' or 'Use Windows classic folders'. I switched
to 'Use Windows classic folders', and now I can get directory listings, and
Control panel is working again.
However, checking my 2000 pro machines, both settings still seem to work. Is
this an bug/issue with the patch, and can we expect some kind of fix for it
in the near future?
