KB896727 - is giving problems with IE

Hi .. i have a genuine winXP Home installed on my Fujitsu laptop. after i
install the above mentioned update on my laptop, IE stops working. I cannot
open any page on IE. The explorer windows simply remains blank... no page
opens ...

WinXP SP1 or WinXP SP2, please?

Do you have another browser installed?

I had the same problem running SP2 on my VAIO laptop. Netscape an
Foxfire work perfectly, but Explorer is a blank screen. To ge
Explorer to work, I had to remove all of the updates that came out a
the end of last week, not just KB896727.

I also noticed that KB896727 never really installs and continues t
try. I turned off auto updates after removing the offending updates
while I look for a fix. If I hear back from MS, I'll post whateve
their answer is.
