kb898461-keeps popping up in updates

I am running xp home ed. I have auto updates turned on.
I keep getting the icon that updates are ready. it is always for this one. I
download it, install it, message says computer updated successfully.
2 minutes later it comes up again.
the download screen is grayed out where the check mark is.
i have installed this file at least 20 times and still comes back.
I have also gone directly to the download page and downloaded it to desktop
and then installed, still comes back

Please help me

Hi,

See if renaming spupdsvc.exe helps.

Herr_Mord found that renaming c:\windows\system32\spupdsvc.exe
solved the KB898461 install problem for him:

Also see if the install log file for kb898461 give you any tip:

From Start/Run:

notepad.exe %windir%\kb898461.log

I had tried that before but went into sys32 again to look. there was already
a file with .old and a new one with .exe.
Any other suggestions
