KB900325 failed to install

I recently had to do a system recovery and needed to download all the windows
updates again. I downloaded all the short ones and saved the large files for
later, including Media Center KB900325. It failed to install and I have
read the many comments regarding this issue, but I am not comfortable trying
some of the suggestion. My computer (windows XP) is totally up-to-date
except for this update as of 10 march 2007. I have tried removing 886903
(don't have 904) and KB904706. It did not help. Have I recently download
something else that is blocking this install? What about all this talk on IE
7..do I need to remove that too? Will I still be able to get online etc?? I
am sort of nervious about what I need to do. Please advise, make it simple
and easy to follow. I don't understand how to access the areas that tell you
what is causing the install problem. I wish Microsoft would address this
issue, seems like many people have had issues with 900325. Thanks.
