KB904942 problems

Hi,

KB904942 has recently turned up as an optional XP update, in
preparation for IE7. I have found that if I use Windows update, or
download the patch and then run it manually, it seems to work fine
with no error messages. However, the next time I check, it is on the
update list again. The last time I looked, I couldn't find anything
in the MS KB about this, probably because it is too new. Any help in
getting the update to stick?

Hi,

Judging by the number of people who replied to the original post,
zero, this does not seem to have been a major problem. FWIW, last
night, on about the 20th try, the update worked properly. I noticed
that a couple of suggested optional updates, which were in error for
my system, we no longer showing up, so apparently MS did some tuning
somewhere.
