It's not a required update. In plain English ... there are other ways to
access the tools. If you *really* want the update, download it from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
Save it. When the download is complete, close the browser and any other
open programs. Right click the Dell Support Tool in the Notification
area and choose Exit.
Create a folder on the root drive [ the drive where Windows is installed
to, usually C:\ ] and name it Tools.
Move WindowsXP-KB906569-v2-x86-ENU.exe to that folder.
Now click Start > Run > click the Browse button
In the left frame, click the My Computer icon
Double click Local Disk ( C: ) in the right frame
Click on the Tools folder, click the Open button
Click on WindowsXP-KB906569-v2-x86-ENU.exe, click the Open button.
In the Open: line, click on WindowsXP-KB906569-v2-x86-ENU.exe to
highlight it. It will turn blue. Now click right after the last quote "
after .exe, push the Space bar once, and enter /o
The Command in the Open line will now look like
"C:\Tools\WindowsXP-KB906569-v2-x86-ENU.exe" /o
Now click OK to install the update
[If there are no quotes, then push the Space bar and enter /o after .exe]
Did that get it installed ?
