KB908531 problem

I experineced the KB908531 problem with an HP, XP professional notebook. I
ran system restore and the problem went away. Windows update history lists
KB908531 as installed. Add / Remove programs does not list this update as
installed (removed by running system restore?). After the date passed for
the Microsoft KB908531 fix passed (April 25) I turned AutoUpdate back on but
there was no installation of KB908531??? I don't know what this means.

I have had one hell of a computer nightmare from KB908531 and uninstalled it
this past tuesday and all the problems are gone.... I have hidden that update
so I could turn the auto updates back on..... I can not get any help on
KB908531.... Is this update really needed??? Is there another fix besides
the first fix they put out???
