Getting the following error during the installation of KB908981:

Failed To Enable SE_SHUTDOWN_PRIVILEGE

Hotfix started with following command line: -q -z - r
/ParentInfo:fa2e3565b306c84b9db5c917b9743909

Microsoft Windows is Not Present

Condition Check for Line 1 of PreRequisite returned FALSE

ReadStringFromInf: UpdSpGetLineText failed: 0xe0000102

KB908981 Setup encountered an error: Setup cannot continue because one or
more prerequisites required to install KB908981 failed. For More details
check the Log File c:\windows\KB908981.log

Any thaughts would be appreciated.

Try downloading the update from the links on this page :
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../ms06-017.mspx
Save it. Close IE. Temporarily disable the installed Antivirus program.
Now try to install it.
Remember to reenable the AV whether it installs or not.

Still a no go - I get the message that one or more prerequisites required.

You're not the only one who is experiencing this issue.
Suggest you start here and contact MS concerning this.

Choose the country that you are in, click the arrow next to it.
Click " Select a Product Solution Center ".
Under Windows, click the Windows Update link.
Click the link under :
